MIDI GUITAR 3 IS NOT RELEASED YET!
MIDI GUITAR 3 turns any guitar into a blazing fast, multidimensional polyphonic expressive MIDI guitar (MPE MIDI/MIDI 2.0).
Having MIDI at your fingertips along your guitar signal, change a whole lot it turns out, and opens up all sorts of new possibilities.
MIDI GUITAR 3 looks and feels like a pedal board, but it also resemble a modular synth rack, since just about everything can be cabled up with patch cables and modulated.
It’s not just about MIDI – combine traditional guitar tone with the MIDI based modules and it’s an awesome performance host.
MIDI GUITAR 3 makes it easy to wire together different kinds of modules. Such a combination of modules and wires is simply called a PATCH.
There are three fundamentally different kinds of modules:
The simplest possible PATCH will only convert Guitar to MIDI.
The introduction PATCH will get you stated.
There are 4 dimensions of sound to every note you play. This is called multidimensional polyphonic expression.
A PATCH has up to three CHAINS.
Each chain can hold a series of pedals and modules: MIDI MACHINES, INSTRUMENTS and EFFECTS.
There are three modes of sustain: INFINITE SUSTAIN, FREEZE CHORD and PIANO-LIKE.
INFINITE SUSTAIN is an intelligent sustainer which will sustain your chords indefinitely, until you play a new chord.
FREEZE CHORD require a foot controller to be practical. When pressed, it will freeze the chord playing, so that you can play another CHAIN over the chord.
PIANO-LIKE sustain is a sustainer which adds release decay time.
Transpose notes in octaves, semitones or microtones.
COMPRESS note dynamics or HOLD the pressure of each note.
Unlike in the audio domain, compression in the MIDI domain is transparent.
Add vibrato to all notes.
MODULATORS are envelopes from the guitar or envelope generators. MODULATORS can be wired to almost anything to change its dynamic behaviour over time.
Modulators include:
MODULATORS can also modulate other modulators, for high dimension complex behaviour.
TEST SYNTH is a minimalistic MIDI MPE INSTRUMENT, designed as a reference and testing base. Like all MIDI MPE iINSTRUMENTS, it has 4 dimensions of input control:
The default behaviour of the first three inputs are the corresponding STRIKE, PRESSURE and BRIGHTNESS envelopes from your guitar. But each of these can be overridden from MIDI CONTROLLERS or MODULATORS.
Any 3rd party synth or virtual instrument (AU or VST3) can be loaded. They have 4 dimensions of input control:
The default behaviour of the first two inputs are the corresponding STRIKE and PRESSURE envelopes from your guitar. But each of these can be overridden from MIDI CONTROLLERS or MODULATORS.
When enabled, it will only pass through notes that belong to a particular scale. You can’t make mistakes now 🙂
This is a keyboard split. When enabled, it will only pass through notes that are in a certain pitch range.
When enabled, only notes with hard strikes pass through.
Useful in series with BASS FILTER.
When enabled, it will pass through the lowest note playing and discard all other notes. This will typically give you a root note to drone under other CHAINs.
To make it a bass drone, add a TRANSPOSER afterwards and a INFINITE SUSTAINER to keep it going.
Retune your guitar.
Setup four note patterns, for drum machines or backing.
You probably need a TRANSPOSER after it.
Arpeggiates over the notes in the chord you play.
Turns a single note into a series of notes, in a given key. Even if you are slow, you can shred!
